Polarized is an apologetics event focused on creation and evolution for the Youth and Ascend age groups. We all have the same facts, but those facts look completely different depending on what lens you’re looking through. As a part of this event, we will walk through the Natural History Museum and discuss how this aligns with Christianity and not just evolution.
When: July 11-13 (Friday-Sunday)
Friday 5:30 PM – 9:30 PM
Saturday 10:00 AM – 9:30 PM
Sunday: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Why:
This is a very pressing issue in the lives of our teens and young adults today. We have had multiple discussions with teens and college students who are really struggling to parse through this. Our schools, the internet, and society all push a narrative that seems to make sense partly because we have been given no alternative.
Speaker: Carl Kerby
Carl runs an organization called Reasons For Hope, which is focused on helping teens and young adults understand the Christian faith and know how to critically think in the world we live in today.
R4H Bio:
Carl was first introduced to apologetics by two pilots after he’d told them evolution was compatible with the Bible, which is what he’d been taught in Sunday school. These men pulled out their Bible and showed him that what the WORLD taught wasn’t the same as what the WORD taught. With 50% to 88% of the younger generation raised in the church leaving the church by the age of 18, Carl’s desire is for them to KNOW what they’re walking away from. This can only happen if they’re able to critically think and evaluate arguments so they can determine the truth.
Carl would say he doesn’t enjoy speaking, at times he’s terrified of it. However, seeing people get excited because they realize they can trust the Word of God inspires him to continue on. When he’s not speaking, Carl loves being with his family and friends. He also enjoys the ocean – snorkeling, boogie boarding, or fishing. Carl has two honorary Doctorates and a degree in Biblical Studies. However, his most important credentials would be SSBGTFIC – (Sinner Saved By Grace Through Faith In Christ) and husband/father and grandfather.

Carl Kerby has had a profound impact on my life personally. When I was 13 he literally gave me the shirt off his back and that taught me that in small ways we can radically love. When I was 15 I committed to go into full-time ministry after a lesson series of his. When I was 17 he gave me confidence in God despite what I was learning in AP Bio. When I was 22 his lessons led 2 of my campers to salvation in Christ and another 4 to start bible studies at their schools. Without Carl’s influence I would have been a mess in many areas, but the way he helped me, and others, the most is in critically understanding that creation screams of a creator who created with His word and is still active in our world today.
