A broken family finds a reason to hope

When Prati and her husband moved their family from the hillside to the lowland region of southern Nepal, they had hopes of finding better work and improving the future for their two small boys. When her husband died just two years after the move, Prati was left with the responsibility of caring for her family on her own.

Pastor Dal Bahadur Gurung from a local church met Prati and her boys just two months into the lockdown. Prati had lost her job as a laborer due to the pandemic and was unable to find another source of income. The family was sharing a single rented room and had very little food to eat.

In addition to food, Pastor Gurung also shared with Prati and her children about the hope of salvation through Jesus. “I used to think there was no God,” Prati shared recently. “Now we are realizing that there is someone who has concern for the poor like us. We are very thankful.”

After a few months of home visits, Prati received Jesus into her heart. She has since begun attending a church fellowship group. We thank God for this family and the church that continues to minister to their physical and spiritual needs.
